Alexandra is an elite athlete and fencer who has enjoyed great success this fencing season alone. She has simultaneously broken into both the Great Britain Junior (Under 20) and Great Britain Senior Women's Sabre team. Alexandra has represented GBR in the Junior squad in Bulgaria, Poland, Germany and Hungary. Frequently, in these international competitions Alexandra has received one of the best results from a British participant and considering this is her first season fencing abroad, and the lack of international experience, these have been very encouraging results that will give her a good foundation for next season
Furthermore, due to Alexandra's success in domestic competitions in Great Britain she has been selected by the British Fencing (NGB) to represent the senior squad in World Cups and Grand Prix events in Mexico, New York and Greece. This has been a fantastic opportunity For Alexandra to get more fencing experience at these events which will help her perform in pressure situations next season.
The goal for Alexandra next season is to use this senior international competition experience and qualify for the Under 23 European Championships 2018 and the European Championships 2018. In order to achieve this goal Alexandra will need consistent outstanding results at international level equal to 45 points, based on the result from the first SIX FIE international WC / GP competitions.
Alexandra is an outstanding athlete with unwavering dedication to training and improving herself. Currently, Alexandra has two individual lessons per week with myself. In these lessons, we work on technical fencing actions as well as preparing and creating actions to different fencing scenarios. Complementary to individual lessons, Alexandra participates in three fencing sessions a week where she is able to practice footwork, implement new fencing actions and cement her technique.
Additionally, Alexandra has a general strength and conditioning programme that was created at Grantham High Performance Training Camp. She follows the programme on the days she is not fencing. However, I feel that this is an area that needs to be developed by having a personalised and individual S&C training with a specialist.
Alexandra is just beginning her journey as an experienced senior international fencer. She has so much potential but critically she is passionate about her sport; she is always enthusiastic to learn how to improve herself and she determined to achieve her goals by working and training hard without compromise.
